Can I cook frozen salmon in the air fryer?

Yes, you can cook frozen salmon in an air fryer without needing to thaw it first. Just remember to increase the cooking time by a few minutes to ensure it cooks through. I prefer letting the salmon thaw at least a few hours to make removing the skin and slicing easier, but I have forgotten to take it out beforehand quite a few times, and it always turns out great regardless!

Should I use salmon with skin-on or skinless?

You can use both skin-on and skinless salmon in the air fryer based on your preference, and the cooking time doesn’t change for either type. Personally, I find it easier to remove the skin before cooking.

How do I know when the salmon is done?

The best way to check if salmon is cooked is by using a meat thermometer. The internal temperature should reach at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Another indication is when the salmon changes to a slightly paler colour than its raw state and flakes easily when pressed with a fork.

How long should I cook salmon in the air fryer?

Cooking times can vary depending on the thickness of the fillet and the type of air fryer used. Generally, it ranges from 6 to 15 minutes at a temperature of around 400°F. It’s always good to check the doneness a bit earlier than the prescribed time to avoid overcooking.

What’s the best air fryer for salmon?

I am very happy with my DASH Mini Air Fryer! I love the colour and it’s sleek design. Plus, i’s lightweight, about half the weight of a standard fryer, and it fits in my cupboard without taking too much space but still cooks plenty. I’ve had this air fryer for over 3 years and no problems to speak of yet.

How do I store and reheat leftover air fryer salmon?

Leftover salmon can be stored in the fridge for up to 3-4 days in an airtight container. For reheating, use the air fryer or microwave, adjusting the time to ensure it warms through without overcooking.

Notes

I love using this Italian Herbs & Spices Mix. If you can’t get your hands on it though, most Italian blends will work fine! You may need to adjust the amounts slightly, so add a little to taste until you find the exact flavour you want.
