How To Balance Hormones NATURALLY! (Clear Skin & Painless Periods)

After going off the birth control pill, my hormones were out of control! I had such bad period pain, my cycle was crazy irregular and my skin was BAD.
That was about 2 years ago now, and I managed to heal my body naturally! Now my period comes like clockwork, the cramps are simply annoying (not painful) and my skin is clear again YAY 🥹
Here’s the biggest things that helped (other than time, and trusting my body will heal on its own):
#1: Diet
I used to eat SO MANY CARBS, which led to insulin resistance. This caused an imbalance of other hormones in the body, resulting in acne and poor reproductive health. While I still eat carbs, I make sure my meals are always balanced with fats and protein to ensure a balanced blood sugar response. (So for example: instead of snacking on just an apple, I’ll have an apple PLUS cheese or beef jerky)
I’ve also found certain foods that sound healthy, make me break out. The biggest ones are too much fruit or honey, nuts and seeds, and gluten/flours. While I still treat myself from time to time, I know these foods in particular irritate my gut, causing inflammation and acne.
Start keeping a food journal and make note of how your skin reacts to different foods. Everyone is unique so this might take some time! If you don’t want to wait, opt for an elimination diet to quickly discover what foods are causing your acne.
Make sure to include nourishing foods into your diet, so your body is getting all the nutrients it needs to speed up healing. My favourites are grass-fed beef, pasture raised eggs, liver, and bone broth.
#2: Skincare
My skin was so inflamed when I used a standard skincare routine. It was always red and painful, and my acne lasted for weeks. When I switched to a very simple routine of just tallow, or a cleansing oil when I need to remove makeup, my skin is now balanced, healthy and glowing. And any pimples I get are gone in a day!
Why this works? My skin is super sensitive, so using harsh products only made things worse. Tallow is not only gentle, but its high in vitamins essential for healthy skin. It also has anti-oxidative properties that reverse damage from the sun and slows the breakdown of collagen. Plus, it’s anti-inflammatory and deeply hydrating which makes it effective at healing acne, eczema, scars, cuts and bug bites.

#3: Castor Oil Packs
Used to support liver detox by promoting lymphatic circulation and reducing inflammation. To use, apply a cloth soaked in castor oil to the skin over the liver and leave on overnight. Do this about 2-3 times per week.
#4: Estro-Block Supplement
There are plenty of supplements out there that have been shown to help balance the bodies hormones, and what works for you will be very unique. I tried them all over the years, and the only one that gave me noticeable results was estro-block. It’s a highly concentrated DIM supplement that helps the body remove excess estrogen.
Other supplements to consider: Magnesium, Zinc, Methylsulfonylmethane, NAC, Ginseng, Ashwaganda
#5: Herbal Tea
Make your own blend of spearmint, licorice root, dandelion root and raspberry red leaf tea! Tasty and helps to balance hormones.
#6: Slow Lifestyle
I used to be a chronic never-leave-the-house kind of hermit. Always working and never relaxing. I hardly ever got sun or spent time outside… This is a no-no for optimal health! Start prioritizing spending time outside in the sunshine every day, relaxing (Pssttt… Vitamin D is crucial for hormone regulation)
Bonus points if you walk around barefoot in the grass (grounding will really help, promise!) Regular exercise is also helpful for regulating your blood sugar, reducing stress and promoting a good nights sleep – So take lots of walks.
